Who Ran The Game?

Christopher Bridges, Melissa Elliot, and Trevor Smith Jr are all names you recognize in the music industry. You know them as Ludacris, Missy Elliot, and Busta Rhymes. These are three of the greatest names in music video history because of their creativity and fearlessness in trying something new. If you name top 10 creative music videos, it is damn near impossible to think of a list that doesn’t include them. Since they stopped performing there has been a lack of fun and excitement in the music video game. Think about how many videos we’ve seen of just a bunch of guys shirtless aiming guns at a cameraman. Nobody wants that. It’s not entertaining and worse when the tattoo game isn’t that advanced, so it’s the same tattoos everywhere. There’s no variety to that.

Who Is Picking Up The Slack?

Amala Zandile Dlamini, John Kirk Jr, and Montero Lamar Hill are three upcoming stars with very creative music video styles. Better known as Doja Cat, DaBaby, and Lil Nas X, these three are bringing fun back to the music genre. Their most known videos are “Moo”, “Suge” and “Old Town Road”. Just because these are creative music videos, it does not mean these videos are expensive to make. Doja Cat was dressed up in a cow pattern crop top and bottoms in front of a green screen. DaBaby just put on fake muscles and danced around an office space. Lil Nas X probably paid the most for his video because of the numerous cameos (one being Chris Rock) but he curved the budget by most of the video is him riding a horse through an empty street.

I believe these stars can only go up from here which will open the doors for more elaborate and creative music videos. Hopefully, they will inspire the new generation of rap artists that it is ok to have fun with your music videos. Not everything has to be a flex of money or wealth. You have the opportunity to make dreams come true so aim for that.
